Professor of professional ethics, in particular of legal professions, Faculty of Law, University of Groningen, the Netherlands. In her research she focuses on the ethics and the epistemology of legal professions, in particular the judiciary. She writes about rational models of proof, in particular the scenario theory and its relation to Bayesian approaches. She is the PI of the Dutch Research Council (NWO) funded research project "Preventing Miscarriages of Justice" (nr 406.21.RB.004). Together with Christian Dahlman (Lund) she is the founder of the North Sea Group – Legal evidence & Proof which brings together scholars through organizing conferences, workshops and online seminars.
