Her research focuses on evidence, as well as criminal and civil procedure, intellectual property, and law and behavioral sciences. Using theoretical, mathematical, and empirical methods, she studies how legal actors—judges, jurors, and citizens—should and do use evidence to make decisions. She is a co-author of the Third Edition of The New Wigmore, A Treatise on Evidence: Expert Evidence and a co-organizer of the Evidence Summer Workshop.

Professor Wittlin joined the Fordham Law School faculty in 2020, and she was elected Teacher of the Year in 2022.
